Klaus Koska (Pascal Ulli), an inconspicuous civil servant, witnesses a murder. He reports the crime to the authorities and suddenly becomes the hunted himself. Koska barricades himself in his flat. The sudden appearance of a huge wooden box, but also the clingy neighbour Marlene and the pushy dental patient Hermann Schmidt increase Koska's fear. Justice Minister Lubitsch personally tries to eliminate him in order to proclaim himself dictator that same evening. Koska realises far too late that the wooden box in his flat is intended to hide his body...
